Relive the Renaissance period at Villandry Castle!

From June 14 to September 1, 2019, the Château de Villandry celebrates 500 years of the Renaissance with a historical exhibition retracing the evolution of the castle under the influence of one of the great characters of the Renaissance: Breton jeans.
The castle and the gardens of Villandry also celebrate 500 years of Renaissance (s) in the Center-Val de Loire region, with an exhibition dedicated to the royal secretaries. You will discover the transformations undergone by the castle over the centuries, and the role of Jean Breton in its evolution. Minister of Finance of Francis I at the Renaissance, he is the sponsor of the new castle of Villandry in the 1530s. At the time of the Renaissance, the royal secretaries confirmed their social rise through the construction of bold castles, new styles. This is why many monuments were born during the Renaissance, especially in the Loire Valley. Discover the path of these new builders through the exhibition “Jean Breton, the Renaissance in Villandry. The royal secretaries under François I, builders of the castles of the Loire “: follow the course of Jean Breton in Villandry, but also Florimond Robertet and his castle Bury, Gilles Berthelot in Azay-le-Rideau or Thomas Bohier in Chenonceau. Discover or rediscover the castle of Villandry and its improvements over the centuries, with a 3D modeling retracing the architectural evolution of the castle, from the Middle Ages to the present day. Enjoy your visit to the castle and its gardens to discover this exceptional exhibition as part of the 500 years of the Renaissance.
